Welcom in Vieste, the pearl of Gargano
Vieste is the holiday of "blu flag"
Every summer discharged into our beautiful Vieste attracted thousands of tourists not only from the sea, beautiful beaches, picturesque coves, bays and caves hewn from erosion of the sea and wind, but also by its rich landscape of forests, oaks, pine trees, olive trees, fruit trees and other plants trees.
The coast south of Vieste, with its bays as Bay Fields, Bay Vignanotica, Cala Sanguinaria, Cala della Pergola, Harbour greek and all sea caves, have made our city famous throughout the world. At the peak of Vieste there is' islet of Sant'Eufemia was built where the beacon of Vieste, also known as a beacon of Sant'Eufemia.
A Vieste you can visit two museums. The Civic Archaeological Museum where you can admire significant archaeological finds from excavations of the area. Or the museum where they are exposed Malacologico about 11,500 shells from around the world.
The old part is built on rocky tip of St. Francis. The modern part was svilluppata along the coast of San Lorenzo, between the tip of San Francisco and the tip of Santa Croce. At the top of the promontory is the Castle and Cathedral. Below the castle the vast stretches of the Castle Beach, better known as Pizzomunno, by the name of a cliff, 26 meters high that according to local legend would be a couple viestano transformed into rock by the sea, sentenced to assume human form and riabbracciare his beloved only once every hundred years.
